CHINA. Duty-free shopping platform Globuy has unveiled its flagship ‘Fun Bottle’ store in partnership with China National Service Cooperation (CNSC), the duty-free business of Sinopharm Group 49% owned by CTGDF, in Shanghai.
As reported, The ‘Fun Bottle’ recycling programme was first launched in September 2023 at the My Block boutique store in the Jing’an District.
It has recorded participation from over 2,000 consumers and collected 13,766 empty cosmetic bottles, out of which 10,677 have been recycled, reducing carbon emissions by 348kg.
Globuy has engaged with the travel retail industry for several years, offering duty-free shopping services to Chinese consumers and collaborating with various duty-free retailers.
It has over 2 million followers, most of which are frequent outbound travellers with strong consumption capability. These users are familiar with the duty-free shopping process and enjoy purchasing makeup and skincare products.
The ‘Fun Bottle’ flagship is now reaching outbound tourists in Shanghai and using Globuy’s exclusive online resources and private community networks to drive users from online engagement to offline visits.
The ‘Fun Bottle’ recycling programme has encouraged several Shanghai outbound duty-free consumers to participate, and the top ten empty bottles provided by users are the most popular beauty and skincare brands in the duty-free store.
Based on user data, Globuy has identified that participants in the ‘Fun Bottle’ recycling programme exhibit higher consumption capacity than other users.
The programme, in collaboration with duty-free retailers and brands, is successfully promoting the concept of environmental protection to travelling shoppers.
Participants can receive up to four prize slots based on the number of bottles they provide. Prizes include Globuy points, lottery tickets, shopping bags and Globuy beauty blind boxes.
By combining its customer relationship management with the empty bottle recycling program, Globuy has efficiently directed users to the CNSC store, increasing potential customers for travel retailers and brands.
Globuy cooperates with B Corp-certified company Good Cycle for recycling empty bottles deposited by consumers. The bottles go through several processes including label removal, cleaning and disinfection, crushing and sorting, recycling into plastic particles, and manufacturing in the factory.
