Pallini Limoncello credits the popularity of Spritz cocktails for it strong sales in travel retail

Family-owned Italian distillery Pallini has noted “unstoppable and global growth” for its popular Limoncello liqueur, with the brand’s strong performance including a +30% increase in sales in travel retail.

According to Pallini, sales of Limoncello are “on the rise” thanks to international expansion and a focus on Spritz cocktails.

Generally, the brand’s sales have increased +66% in the last four years, “more than double the industry average”. Pallini Limoncello is available in 80 countries, with domestic markets in Germany and the UK performing “exceptionally well”, along with travel retail.

Pallini underlined the success of activations centred on the popular Spritz cocktail. “Limoncello is establishing itself as an aperitif thanks to its versatility in the preparation of cocktails,” the distillery said. “With its freshness, it can give an extra twist to the Spritz, offering an extraordinary version of this great classic and riding the global popularity of the Italian aperitif.”

Pallini CEO Micaela Pallini added: “Pallini Limoncello is not only the pride of our product portfolio, but as of this year, it is also the leading Limoncello in the world: an important recognition that confirms the success of our marketing strategy.

“In the coming years, we will continue to expand the brand in both established and new markets as well as in the mixology segment.”

In the lead up to celebrations for its 150th anniversary next year, Pallini has refreshed its Limoncello presentation and packaging, adding a sense of place and “an even more iconic Italian look and feel”. ✈
