Davidoff Cigars has concluded its ‘Cigar History Re-Rolled’ series with a fourth and final release, honouring its Grand Cru line in a new format: Grand Cru Diademas Finas Limited Edition Collection.

It will be available from 4 July at select Davidoff-appointed merchants, premium cigar retailers and in all Davidoff of Geneva flagship stores.

Since launching its ‘The Difference’ campaign, Davidoff has reintroduced three cigars from its White Band Collection lines as limited editions – Signature, Millennium and Aniversario – offering insights into the brand’s cigar creation process.

With the launch of the Grand Cru Diademas Finas Limited Edition Collection, Davidoff has revealed another interesting fact about its cigar production: Davidoff cultivates 15 terroirs in the Dominican Republic and each terroir’s respective tobaccos create different sensorial experiences. Different growing conditions bring different flavour profiles.

Oettinger Davidoff Chief Marketing Officer Edward Simon said: “The possibilities offered by different terroirs in winemaking and the blending of at least three different main grape varieties in French wine-making inspired Zino Davidoff in 1946 to create a cigar line that would be blended in the same way as a fine red wine.

“The line we know today as Grand Cru has its origins in this wine-cigar analogy. Our new Grand Cru Diademas Finas with a wine-cask-aged filler tobacco is based on this idea, as the cigar perfectly reflects the main aromas of a well-aged red wine.”

The release features Dominican San Vicente seco filler tobacco, a finer leaf that can absorb more of the wine’s aroma from the cask.

The cigar experience starts with citrus notes, evolves to pepper and roasted nuts, and balances with creamy undertones.

In the second part, wine-cask-aged Dominican San Vicente seco brings out dark cherry, oak wood and earthy aromas. The finish features walnut with hints of spice and vanilla. ✈
